Στην καρδιά του Παλαιού Προσφυγικού Συνοικισμού, περιοχής έξω από την καδμεία που χτίστηκε το 1926 για να στεγάσει τους μικρασιάτες πρόσφυγες, μετά την καταστροφή το 1922, εντοπίζεται η πλατεία.

Σήμερα όπως και τότε, αποτελεί χώρο σύναξης για τους κατοίκους. Είναι ο τόπος που προσελκύει ακόμα ντόπιους κατοίκους, τους ελάχιστους που απέμειναν στο συνοικισμό αλλά και πολλούς Θηβαίους που βρίσκουν τον τόπο ελκυστικό ακόμα, παρά τη σημερινή του υποβάθμιση. Κοντά στην πλατεία βρισκόταν ένα αρχαίο θέατρο.

In the center of the old refugee settlement, where the families of the Asia Minor form the catastrophe of 1922 were accommodated, lies the main square of the region which is named after the refugee settlement Sinikismos (=Settlement in greek). Sinikismos is one of the biggest suburban areas of Thebes. The central square was, and still is a gathering point, which attracts the small amount of people that think of it as appealing and an important part of the city that has not to be demolished and drawn to lethe. Archaeologically, near the area of the square a theater was located.
