The online edition of the interactive installation Zackie: a PIA for reporters is a net-artwork that reflects on the onlinereproduction of fake news and the construction of dominant narratives. The artwork simulates the homepage of an online newspaper, where the main article covers the murder case of the LGTBQ+ activist andqeer performer Zak Kostopoulos/ Zackie Oh- a crime that was followed by an unprecedented operation of fake news circulation. Whenever the viewer/reader interacts with the newspaper (by clicking or refreshing the website), the content of the article changes and presents a new version of the case. The different versions result from the uncritical combination of texts and images retrieved from the internet. Thus, they obviously contain contradictory and fake information. The presented visual material was collected from online sources (websites, online newspapers, social media, videos, online reproduction of mainstream media content and official reports) and was stored in a database. The algorithm, that updates the content of the online newspaper, retrieves and combines information from the database, in order to articulate a new version of the case. The edition number of the online newspaper is a random number from 1 to 760, which equals the 760 days passed from the crime to the trial.
