In the center of the old refugee settlement, where the families of the Asia Minor form the catastrophe of 1922 were accommodated, lies the main square of the region which is named after the refugee settlement Sinikismos (=Settlement in greek). Sinikismos is one of the biggest suburban areas of Thebes. The central square was, and still is a gathering point, which attracts the small amount of people that think of it as appealing and an important part of the city that has not to be demolished and drawn to lethe. Archaeologically, near the area of the square a theatre was located.
