ACTION: ARCHITECTURAL STUDIES' AND WORKS' EXHIBITION
1st October – 30th November 2015
The exhibition will be the center of several peripheral actions throughout the city of Thebes, which alltogether aim to activate citizens' imagination over the possibilities of the city of Thebes.
The exhibition targets to promote the interest of the academic and professional community for the fate and the future of the city, to disengage the studies that have been institutionalized and to make them known to the vast public.
Furthermore, the works that will win in a pupil-collage-contest with the theme "My imaginary city" will be displayed at the exhibition, inviting our city's youth to participate in its transformation.
ACTION: MNEMONIC PROJECTIONS
1st October – 30th October 2015
During the exhibition, signifying its beginning and its duration, three mnemonic and abandoned buildings-sites, situated in the perimeter of the acropolis of Kadmeia will be completed through photographic projection and this way brought back to life; an action that targets to reminisce their importance and built a scenery of how the city and its form of life could be.
ACTION: Scientific proposal meeting
9th October – 10th October 2015
In a two-day meeting, professors of greek Architecture Schools, archaeologists of the 9th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities of Thebes, and professional architects that live and work in the city, combine their fields' experience to introduce the subject of Identity in relation to the specific situation of the city of Thebes.
ACTION:EMERGING THE ANCIENT CITY PLAN
17th October 2015
Although many plans of ancient structures buried under the current surface are known, symbolically the plan of the mycenaean palace and particurarly the treasure room which lays under the central square of the modern city is chosen to be emerged in the surface by chalk, during an interactuve game with kids and adults passing by, in an organized event, which a psychologist will lead, along with the Sphinx architecture team, uniting the ancient with the current, evinicing the osmosis of 2500 years in the city's grounds.
ACTION: WISHBOARDS
24st July – 25st October 2015
At the main square of the undergraded refugee settlement of 1922, and at the site of the public market of Thebes, concurrence point of city's generic elements - neglected today (ancient stream, sloaps of the acropolis, mycenaean fortification and Omoloides Gates, within the frame of organized happenings, huge blackboards will be set up for passing by citizens to write their own wishes on what and how they would like the site to be.
The resulting cloud of ideas will show the needs of the citizens, their power to imagine and change their city and the need for a dramatic take over of the city's future in our hands before reaching the irriversible point.
ACTION: MODEL LAB FOR CHILDRENS
30th October 2015
Inside the exhibition space, a special lab for children will be set up in order to create along with the Sphinx architecture team a model of the city of Thebes from plasticine.
The children will be introduced to the principles of model making, and through their work they will know their city from a different point of view.
The model will be afterwards displayed in the central quare of Thebes.
