ACTION: VISUAL EXHIBITIONS
4th October - 4th November 2015

Through our connection with the dormant cultural reserve of this ancient city marked by the Riddle of the Sphinx, we attempt to reformulate the nature of the human being and to redefine Thebes. The conversation between the present and the past will provide the answers for the understanding of man in the future. These answers will determine the fate of the city itself and they will also specify the nature of man and culture.

ACTION: SCULPTURES IN CONVERSATION WITH VENUES OF CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE

1st August – 15th September 2015

Works of artists after an international call will be placed in different sites of the city in relation and conversation with the historical and archaeological remains (ex. Cadmus palace, the house of Hercules, the temple of Ismenius Apollo, the fountain of Dirki, the tomb of Antigone, Pindar etc.).

ACTION: VIDEO ART AND ANIMATIONS
1st October – 16th November 2015

International invitation for the creation of six-minute videos and animation films on the topic of searching for the solution of the man’s riddle that Sphinx set.

ACTION: ARTISTS’ POSTERS
15th July – 30th September 2015

Series of posters, through international pictorial contest, will be placed in special regions and stores all over the urban tissue, activating the cultural and historical reserves of the most ancient city in Europe that now sleeps. In this way, the artists of the world will answer the question of what defines the human nature and culture.

ACTION: HAPPENINGS
4th June – 5th October 2015 

International call for the organization of happenings spread all over the tissue of the city in an attempt to provide an answer to the Riddle of the Sphinx in the present. Our world reshaped by technological challenges, social and economic conflicts, cultural mergers and clashes opens anew the question of humanity. Our present answer can determine the sustainable (and under what conditions) or the impasse of human choices.

ACTION: DIGITAL IMAGES TO BE PROJECTED ON A SPHINX SCULPTURE
15th August  - 30th  September 2015

International invitation for the creation of digital images on the riddle of the Sphinx. The images will be projected on the wings of a six meter tall Sphinx that will be situated at the entrance of the city, on the site where Oedipus washed his hands after the murder of his father.

ACTION: GRAFFITI
1st June – 30th  July 2015

Graffiti interventions on five selected walls in the city with the purpose of highlighting the aesthetics of the area through the connection and conversation with the historical-cultural features of each spatial point. The interventions will be made by local graphic designer groups and graffiti artists.

ACTION: PHOTOGRAPHY
1st August – 31st August 2015 (Sitizens)
15th May– 31st May 2015 (Pupils)

Photo exhibitions will be organized by citizens and pupils in search for the ontological identity of the citizen through a conversation with the cultural wealth of the city. The conversation between the present and the past will provide the answers for the understanding of the future people. This answer will define the fate of the city itself which is a whole of people.
