«Homoloides Gates» is one of the seven gates of Kadmeia that, as mythological tradition says, was beleaguered by Amfiaraos during the “Epta epi Thivas” war. It is placed in the stream of “Hrysorroa” which is considered to be one of the three main streams that created the egg-shaped acropolis of Kadmeia along with the streams of Dirkes and Ismenus. In the modern city, Homoloides Gates constitutes an archaeological site, where we can see a part of the Mycenaean Fortification. Nowadays, just in front of the archaeological site, there is an open place where the social market takes place twice a week. It is believed that ancient graveyards exist in the sub-soil of this place. The greater area is called “Tekes”.
