Archaeological Museum of Thebes

 

 The Archaeological Museum of Thebes is one of the most important buildings in the modern city. Rebuilt the last years, yet temporarily closed, it is expected to be open for the public on September of 2015.

 The area where the museum is located is a node of interest in the fuction of Thebes nowadays.

Located in the north side of the acropolis, it is a part of a complex of public buildings, along with the Convention Center of Thebes, and the old Hospital which today is being used from one of the biggest cultural associations of the city.

 During the construction of the museum, the Voraiai Gates have been excavated, the gates that were leading to Gla and Orchomenos.

 The Museum is directly in front of Amfios Hill, and gathers a lot of the tourism of the area.
