Amfios Hill

Amfios Hill is one of the seven hills of the city of Thebes, which is well known as the city of seven gates and seven hills.

In the modern city, it is one of the green public spaces, where a public school and conservatory are located. A tomb has been discovered to be under that hill, where mythologically Amfios and Zethus are buried. From Amfios Hill, the north entrance of the city passes through as in the modern city as in the ancient ones, with one of the seven Thebes gates being located always opposite from the hill.

Nowadays, the hill is adjoined with the Archaeological Museum.
