Agioi Theodoroi

At the entrance of the city of Thebes, at the square of St. Theodore, stands the legendary fountain of Oedipus. At this fountain it is said that Oedipus washed his hands after having killed his own father Laius. The fountain was reconstructed in 1902. Until a few decades back, St. John’s stream was giving life to an existing watermill, the ruins of which are still remaining there, unfortunately without any water now to evince its previous use but still faintly connecting it to its past.
